Editorial anyone?

This is my attempt at a blog about the real world, things I see happening around me. I will express my opinions about politics, policies, pop culture and maybe share stories about experiences such as my visit to the capital building in Madison Wisconsin with Monica my 17 year old activist daughter. There are so many things happening at this exact moment in time on the Local, State and National level that have far reaching implications for the future of our State and Country.

My 11 year old son said to me standing in the kitchen a few days ago "Dad there's a lot of crazy things going on with the economy" I chuckled and told him he was right, when I asked where he got that idea he said "I watch the news and listen to you guys" You guys being Allison, my beautiful, intelligent, “RINO” wife. She doesn't like being called RINO but she likes the idea of national health care sooooo you draw your own conclusion. I told him he was right there are a lot of crazy things going on and he should keep paying attention to them. I try; honestly I do to allow my children to hear both sides of an argument about issues political and social. I even go as far as encouraging them to read articles from both sides. What I don’t do is encourage them to watch MSNBC or Fox News. I have somehow always had a group of friends who are conservatives and I would be considered a liberal. I try to not be defined by party lines but I have never voted for any republican candidate for any office. So I suppose I am closer to being a democrat than a republican. I have voted for independent and green party candidates if that means anything.

I look forward to posting my first blog which will focus on the Budget Battle in Wisconsin and also attempt to look at the shift of Wisconsin from a “Blue State” to a “Purple State” or “Red State”. There are also things in the budget bill that have been lost in the shuffle of the battle for public employee union rights to collective bargaining I feel need to be examined further.
